DCP expert: Soumabrata Moulick

Soumabrata Moulick is a passionate wildlife photographer and nature enthusiast. Primarily interested in behavioral and conservation photography, he believes that knowledge should be shared with no holds barred and has a flair for teaching. An engineer by profession, he left his high paying full time job to devote all his time and devotion to the observation, study and documentation of nature and wildlife. His work has been published and acknowledged in various national and some of the most renowned international platforms. He is today a successful conservation photographer and contributes enormously towards the conservation of fast vanishing natural wonders. Som (as we call him lovingly) is a full time Masterclass Mentor with team DCP, taking Wildlife Photography to its next orbit.

Day 1
Arrival and introduction
  • Pick-up point: Lucknow Airport
  • Distance: 222 km from Lucknow Airport
  • Duration: 4hr 30 min
  • Arrival in Lucknow: Participants are recommended to arrive in Lucknow by 9:00 a.m.
  • Journey to Dudhwa: Depart for Dudhwa National Park, a 4.5-hour road journey covering approximately 222 km. Refreshments will be provided en route.
  • Arrival and lodge check-in: Reach the lodge near the tourist entry gate by early afternoon.
  • Lunch and preparation: Enjoy lunch at the lodge and prepare for the first safari.
  • Evening safari: The evening safari starts at 2:30 p.m. Explore the wild Sal forests of Dudhwa, focusing on capturing images of charismatic wildlife, including the Bengal tiger.
  • Post-Safari activities: Return to the lodge for refreshments, discuss the day's experiences, and set expectations. Review and edit images taken during the safari, followed by an early dinner.
Day 2
Exploration of Dudhwa National Park
  • Pick-up point: Hotel
  • Distance: 36 km from Hotel
  • Duration: 50 min
  • Early morning safari: Wake up at 5:00 am, have morning tea, and depart by 6:30 am for the morning safari through the interiors of Dudhwa National Park. Breakfast will be provided inside the park.
  • Wildlife diversity: Dudhwa, located at the Indo-Nepal border, boasts rare faunal diversity, including tiger, leopard, greater one-horned rhino, Indian elephant, sloth bear, fishing cat, and swamp deer, making it ideal for unique and standout wildlife photography.
  • Lunch and rest: Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
  • Evening safari at Kishanpur wildlife sanctuary: Explore Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its open forests and frequent big cat sightings.
  • Evening activities: Return to the lodge for a bonfire, dinner, and discussions on photography experiences with the mentor.
Day 3
Exploration of Dudhwa National Park
  • Pick-up point: Hotel
  • Distance: 36 km from Hotel
  • Duration: 1 hr
  • Wake up call at 5:00 a.m. Have your morning tea and get ready for the morning safari, we set out by 6:30 and will be going to Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary on the morning safari.
  • You will be having your breakfast inside the forest during the safari.
  • We will have our lunch at the lodge and set out for the evening safari at Dudhwa National Park. The misty landscape of Dudhwa boasts of one of the last remaining large swamps in the country along with dense cane forests and grasslands which many herbivores and carnivores call home.
  • Post safari, return to the lodge in the evening and enjoy a bonfire before having dinner.
  • Spend the evening by joining the group to discuss your experience and you can consult our mentor for any guidance on photography and post-processing.
Day 4
Final safari and departure
  • Pick-up point: Dudhwa
  • Distance: 222 km from Dudhwa
  • Duration: 4hr 30 min
  1. Last morning safari: Wake up at 5:30 am and depart by 6:30 am for the final morning safari in Dudhwa National Park.
  • Breakfast at FRH: Have breakfast at the Forest Rest House (FRH) after the safari.
  • Check-out and departure: Complete check-out formalities and depart for Lucknow Airport, a 4.5-hour drive from Dudhwa.
  • Trip conclusion: Reflect on the experiences and wildlife encounters returning to Lucknow Airport.
